Children’s Classes at IUPUI

The IUPUI Music Academy offers music classes for children ages 3-6, using the Harmony Road Program. This curriculum is an exciting comprehensive music program designed to help children discover the world of music through motivating materials and “hands on” activities: hearing, feeling, moving, singing, creating, sharing, reading, and playing percussion and keyboard instruments. This early background is most important for success in all future musical endeavors. Parental involvement in class and at home is highly recommended. Students are strongly encouraged to have their own keyboard or have regular access to a keyboard with at least 36 keys.

A minimum enrollment of four students per class is required.

Adults’ Classes at IUPUI

These courses, offered on the IUPUI campus, will give adults the opportunity to learn or rediscover the joy of playing violin, viola, cello, or upright bass in a fun, supportive environment. The focus of the classes will be on learning and the joy of making music together, not on perfection and competition. We encourage those with basic playing experience to register. No prior experience is required for the beginning level.

Though classes will be held at IUPUI, any adult age 18 or older is welcome to sign up for this unique opportunity. Participants will need to bring their own instruments.
