Founded in 2000 with a mission to “make a positive difference in the lives of women recovering from substance abuse, including women who are homeless, uninsured, and financially unable to pay for help, by awakening within them a desire and commitment to change and to build a foundation for their recovery journey.” Since that time we have seen hundreds of women walk through our doors and make a commitment to their recovery. The uniqueness about Dove Recovery House is that we don’t expect the women to meet the staff where we are, but rather, we meet the women where they are. Currently, Dove Recovery House for Women is the largest of only four half-way houses in Marion County that provide supportive transitional housing for women recovering from substance abuse. In fact, Dove house has 44% of the 57 beds designated for this purpose in Marion County. Simply put, there are very few places in Indianapolis for a woman to make her journey of recovery solely in the company of other women. When she does make that journey, she is likely to do so at the Dove Recovery House for Women.
